Mitsubishi Set to Redefine Designs Starting in Geneva

Alright, so the Detroit Auto Show has only just wrapped up, but Don Mealey's Sport Mitsubishi is already gearing up for the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. Why? Well, because Mitsubishi has just released a teaser image of what they have in store for the show - and other than a darkened image of the front, the only thing we know about it is that it was be a "strategic and innovative premium vehicle."1

As such, Mitsubishi is positioning the concept as the future of their design language. In a press release, the automaker says, "This re-focused design language, while still being formulated, is envisaged as an open design concept, meant to be flexible enough to suit specific vehicle requirements whilst staging Mitsubishi's famous Three Diamond logo accordingly."1 And the unnamed concept will be a first-of-its-kind model from the automaker, as part of their "Jump 2013" business plan.

They're keeping most of the details about the concept under wraps, but they've also said that it will represent a look that is "Refined yet assertive...the new expression of Mitsubishi's near century old tradition of technology tailored for today's world."2

Judging by what we can see from the shadowy teaser image, the new concept is likely to be a truck or a crossover. Early speculators disagree on what the powertrain will be, but it's likely to be green. Rather, EV or plug-in hybrid technology will power it. We also know that this model is set to hit dealership floors sometime before the end of 2012.
