Like many Americans, you might be hesitant about investing in an electric vehicle. It's green, yes, but how far can you get on one charge? Well, technology continues to improve, and the Mitsubishi i-MiEV can get up to 85 miles on one charge, with a miles per gallon equivalent (MPGe) rating of 126 city/99 highway. The next most important question is: Where can I charge my EV when I'm out and about? Thanks to Mitsubishi's recent partnership with CarStations, the answer is just a few finger taps away.
The companies are teaming up to provide detailed information about charging station locations via social media and mobile applications. The apps - available for iPhones and Androids - will let users enter custom locations or choose from (1,800) prepopulated locations to help map out a road trip. CarStations also allows users to share information with each other that will make even a day of shopping more convenient.
Optimizing user-provided information, GPS technology and Google Maps, users can learn about area parking costs, local restaurants, location status updates and more. According to CarStations CEO David Raboy, "With an electric car, filling up has completely changed. Electricity is everywhere and a charging station can be as simple as a plug in the wall."1
The growing community of EV drivers can certainly make the best out of apps like this. That said, be sure to contact Don Mealey's Sport Mitsubishi to learn more about the evolving EV technology that can be found in the Mitsubishi i. Still not quite sold on the electric vehicle? You'll find a slew of fuel-efficient new Mitsubishi models in our showroom at 3772 West Colonial Dr Orlando FL 32808.
